Best default

Use hosted open-model APIs first unless measured throughput proves a rented GPU will stay busy. Low hourly prices do not help if the workload is idle or bursty.

  • Compare GPU hours, storage, egress, and operations as one monthly cost.
  • Use marketplace GPUs carefully when interruption risk or bandwidth changes quality of service.
  • Reserve or dedicate GPUs only after utilization and latency are measured.

Avoid

Do not buy a dedicated GPU to solve a routing problem. Many workloads get cheaper by batching, caching, and escalating less often.
